“Why”

Last Sunday we began a short 2-week series entitled “Why”. This is a preface to our HISTORY (HIS story) series that will begin on October 7th. In our HISTORY series, we will study the sweeping narrative throughout the Scriptures…the story of God. Before we dive into that series, we have to ask the question, “why”? Why are we going to spend so much time and energy studying the story of God in the Bible. Is there even a God to study? And if there is a God, how do we know that we are studying and worshiping the right one? During our “Why” series we are tackling those two questions.

1 – Is it reasonable to believe in a God?

2 – If so, which God do we place our faith in?

Last Sunday we answered the first question in a message entitled “Faith and Reason”. We asserted that it is not only reasonable to believe in a God, but in fact He has made Himself known to us, has revealed to us His nature and our reason for existence.

We see evidence pointing to the existence and nature of God in both the scientific and philosophical realms as well as a complete manifestation of God in the person of Jesus.

For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,in the things that have been made.” Romans 1:19-20a

“Whoever has seen me (Jesus) has seen the Father” John 14:9b

And make sure to join us next Sunday for a message entitled, “The Uniqueness of Christianity”. We’ll be asking two questions:

1 – Are religions/worldviews exclusive?

2 – Out of the myriad of worldviews & religions offered, why would we choose to place our faith exclusively in the God of the Bible?
